Coma

Contract Terminology
A state of deep unconsciousness, during which the insured only shows signs of primary defensive reflexes to external stimuli, for a continuous period of at least 96 hours.

Specifics
The coma may be caused by illness or injury.

Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery

Contract Terminology
Heart surgery performed to correct narrowing or blockage of one or more coronary arteries with bypass grafts.

Exclusion:
Subject to the partial protection described under the title PREVENTION + BENEFIT of this clause, balloon angioplasty, laser embolectomy treatment or any non-surgical technique are excluded.

Specifics:
Even though balloon angioplasty is excluded according under this definition, a partial benefit may be payable for a balloon angioplasty. Refer to the 'prevention + benefit' for more details.

Cystic Fibrosis

Contract Terminology
A diagnosis of cystic fibrosis.

Specifics:
This is a hereditary disorder of the exocrine glands. The glands secrete an unusually think and sticky mucous that affects the pancreas, the respiratory system and the sudoriparous glands. The illness is characterized by chronic respiratory infections, pancreatic insufficiency and heat intolerance.

Deafness

Contract Terminology
Permanent and profound loss of hearing in both ears, with and auditory threshold of more than 90 decibles with no possibility of correction.

Specifics:
This deafness is covered, regardless of the cause.

Dismemberment

Contract Terminology
The total and permanent amputation of any 2 limbs above the wrist or ankle joint.

Specifics:
Dismemberment may be caused by accident, illness or disease.
