Exclusion:
Any other dementia type organic disorder of the brain and psychiatric illnesses are excluded.

The first symptoms of this disease are loss of memory, disorientation and personality changes. This disease is usually fatal within 10 years.

Aortic Surgery

Contract Terminology
The undergoing of surgery for disease of the aorta requiring excision and surgical replacement of the diseased aorta with a graft. Aorta refers to the thoracic and abdominal aorta but not its branches.

Heart Valve Replacement
Contract Terminology
The replacement of any heart valve with either a natural or mechanical valve.

Exclusion:
Heart valve repair is specifically excluded.

Benign Brain Tumour

Contract Terminology
The diagnosis of a benign brain tumour resulting in permanent and significant neurological deficit.

"Permanent and significant neurological deficit" means one that has a quantifiable impact on the day-to-day life activities of the insured such as:

The diagnosis must be confirmed by a neurological examination either three months after the end of the treatment or, if no treatment is prescribed, three months after the appearance of the lesion on MRI or CT scan.

Exclusion:
Tumours or lesions in the pituitary gland are not covered.

Specifics:
A benign brain tumour is a non-cancerous tumour.

Blindness

Contract Terminology
Permanent loss of sight in both eyes without any possibility of correction. The corrected visual acuity must be 20/200 or less in both eyes or the field of vision must be les than 20 degrees in both eyes.

Specifics
This blindness is covered regardless of the cause. The loss of vision to a corrected visual acuity of 20/200 or less in both eyes prevents most persons from performing their normal activities.
